I think too many people look at salary numbers like it's a scoreboard and they don't really consider them in practical terms. If you can live on a lower salary, and your life will actually be less stressful, that's the better offer. Accepting a higher offer that comes with a lot of unwanted baggage, just because the gross number sounds good, is a colossal mistake, yet a lot of people make it.

I personally think my time worthes more than money if I can manage to invest my time on something else or my family or my health why now. I personally wouldn't want to travel at all.
Believe it or not, I made it 9 MONTHS commuting 120 MILES one way to work a home care job that I covered all of metro Detroit AND Ann Arbor/ Ypsilanti to make a living. My intention was to relocate, but housing was IMPOSSIBLE to find! The major highways to get me where I needed to go and home? ALL under construction. Sometimes my days would last 16-18 hours with all the commuting.NEVER AGAIN.
