Yup. Halfway through a Masters program. So very glad I made the tough decision 2 years ago. In 2 more years I’ll officially be in a different field altogether. One that respects experience and age instead of treating it like the festering contents of last year’s music festival porta potties.

Started teaching, and took a writing gig at a nonprofit. The pay isn’t great, but at least I’m appreciated.
Save some money and buy a small business. Better chance of surviving and doing well vs starting one from scratch. Lots of boomers trying to retire and take over their successful baby’s but people are too afraid to consider this path. They want a paycheck. Imagine saving 150k which isnt that crazy if you don’t own a home (it’s a downpayment in most metros now) but you buy a 1.5mm business that generates 600k in cash flow with a small business loan. This is seriously possible if you learn some business accounting and can review P&Ls. I see this type of deal all over where I live. It’s my exit.
The math ain’t mathing.
Hoping to save enough and for the investment to grow enough that I won’t need another gig in 6-10 years.
Following… over it but don’t know what else is out there.
Kinda. But outside of going client side and being a brand manager, I have no realistic ideas.
Being a creative then going client side brand manager is not an easy jump. You would need to understand channel sales, pricing, innovation… I have made the transition to CD client side and see how much more than ‘advertising’ a brand manager does.
I don't have any great advice other than to say your question piqued my interest.
In my case, I've been fielding questions about whether I'd consider doing something different after a layoff 5 months ago from in house at a tanking retailer. These days, I can't get an interview for something I excelled at for many years and still love doing. I can't imagine anyone wanting to hire me for a position I have no experience in. Maybe I'm too pessimistic.
Good luck. To all of us.
