It does get easier. After a while you realize top managers/c-level are just people too. You gain confidence over time and start to feel like you can hold your own in any room, regardless of who’s in it. I went through this a couple of years ago and just recently took a new job and found myself actually amazed how unfazed I’ve been delivering presentations, meetings, and strategic planning in front of c-suite and exec directors. That used to cause me enormous anxiety. Now it’s just part of what I do.
And congrats on getting to that point :)
Hope your anxiety starts to ease itself! Do you have any advice for breaking into in-house PR/Comms?? I have agency experience and feel as though that’s the next step in my career but am having the hardest time finding a role.
You really need to have industry experience that directly correlates to a role, esp if you’re coming in at the manager level. I had agency experience working with clients that are my current employer’s direct competitors, so that helped a lot. I was rejected from other in house roles I applied to since my experience wasn’t as much of a fit.
