10000% keep your nanny - it’s very hard to manage both babies on your own all day. Plus having the nanny be in tune with the baby and his/her schedule and personality from the beginning is so helpful.
Keep. Mostly because it’s so hard to find someone good why go through all that trouble again. Plus helps keep you sane.
Keep keep keep keep. You had the nanny to care for the first child while you worked, presumably. Maternity leave is work for the second kid. Even if you’re planning for the nanny to watch both, there’s a lot you’ll need to do to help during the newborn phase. Plus just having the extra hands makes it SO much easier. We did it for our third and I’m so glad we did. Recovery was so much easier too bc there’s more opportunities for rest.
If you can afford it, keep her and never let her go. You will get to bond with your new baby, actually get some rest and shower occasionally, and spend time with your toddler. We switched Nannie’s when I had my second and our new nanny started the day we brought the baby home from the hospital.
I had a temporary nanny who was going back to work with a family after their leave ended. Seems like they didn’t get full pay mat leave and couldn’t afford the expense without the extra income so asked if she would return after the mat leave months. They must have been a stellar family, she was a great caregiver.
Completely keep. If your nanny is good, it worth the expense and extra set of hands to keep her. Especially if you want the next nanny to watch both children.
def keep! you'll need them!
Keep
Do you and when do you increase your nanny’s pay for the second kid? After your mat leave? A couple months into your mat leave? If you want “help” during this mat leave should pay increase right away?
When they are pretty regularly watching two
