I think it all depends on the leadership. I had one kid at an in house place that had very little flexibility. Small team with very little trust from leadership so working from home is kind of a struggle there. I have 2 now and am at an agency and really love it. It’s a lot of work, but my leaders trust me to do what I need to do so there’s less pressure when a kid is sick or I have to leave early because they know I’ll be online later to finish the work. I have more weekend work here but I also like the work more (more tv campaigns, less promotional emails).
Honestly, the thing that has helped me no matter where I’m working is having a babysitter pick the kids up from daycare 4 days a week. She is able to be with them from 5-7, and I usually let her go early if I can make it, but I don’t feel anxious at the end of the day. You might already have something worked out there but if not, and budget allows, it is worth the money in my opinion!
Congrats on number 2!
I agree with this - leadership will set the tone for a team environment that is parent-friendly or not.
I’m at an agency with 3 kids under 5. My manager is supportive of the flexibility I need, and I appreciate that.
