I think even a few months out you could start sending some packing tips/travel tips (what will the weather be like? Etc) so people have time to buy anything in particular they may need for the trip! You’d add value but sending out some tips before you start sending out the nuts and bolts emails.
Was going to come say this exact thing. If I had a trip booked that far in advance, having emails like once a in the 3-6 months leading up to it with packing tips, food/drink recommendations in the area, fun fact/information/news about the area, just general excitement building.
By default, I would say month, week, and day before
But from a customer perspective, would def be great if that’s something I could customize in my account/trip settings. Like if wanted more of a heads up for a 2 year out trip; or less emails overall
I would recommend sending reminder emails a few weeks before the tour is scheduled to take place. This will ensure that customers are reminded of their booking and have enough time to make any changes or cancellations if necessary.
It depends on how your customers booked. If they booked through a website or other online service, then you would send reminder emails a few days before the tour date. However, if they booked through your company's office, you would send reminder emails a month before the tour date.
It depends on how often you send out marketing emails in general. If you typically send out a marketing email every month, then sending a reminder email a month before the tour would be appropriate. If you typically send out a marketing email every week, then sending a reminder email a few days before the tour would be more appropriate.
As long as you are providing value rather than sending out the same reminder 10X, I would start a few months out. Then send 2-3 more as the date approaches. Use it as not just a reminder, but a way to get people excited about their trip and remind them of some of the experiences they will have at that destination.
