Therapy!! A lovely psychoanalyst helped me work through something similar
If therapy isn’t your jam, working with a coach will also help. 😉
A trick I use and suggest to everyone I work with is creating a “Wins” folder.
Store every complement, successfully completed project, feel good moment you have and use that for 2 things: a reminder that you are very much competent and good at what you do, and for your performance review conversation with your manager.
There will be moments of career stagnation every now and then, give yourself grace and remind yourself that it’s a phase and you’ll come out of it.
Not every year, quarter, month or even DAY will have BIG wins but you’ll be surprised how many small wins you collect when you start paying attention and having them stored away a someone on your computer will come in handy when you forget how good you are at what you do, as a leader, peer, and person.
Why don't you feel like you know what youre doing?
Hi!
Here’s what you may want to consider:
- start by thinking how you <are> cut for your role? What DO you know, what CAN you do, what ARE you able to? Think about all the results you’ve created so far, feedback you’ve received,
- then, think about what makes you think you´re not cut out for you role? Be as specific as possible, focusing on the facts,
- last but not least, decide what you want to do about those skills & knowledge you might be lacking: what training & support might you need?
Wish you all the best, you’ve got this :)
Btw, if you’d like to chat further, feel free to connect on LI/message me. I´m a Career Coach, happy to offer some additional insights.
