I’m getting paid a little more than $8/hr (no benefits but still FT work) and my boyfriend called me a wage cuck. He’s not wrong but it’s my only way of getting “experience” so I can get a job that will actually allow me to move out. 2 years of experience so far. Is this normal? Should I just quit my dreams of working in the ad industry and work at best buy ($15/hr) I have a degree. (lol)
Job ad: requires 10 years of experience 5 of them as a C-level executive, must manage 30+ people and 9 subcontractors across 7 time zones, must have coded the actual moon landing and have sick DJing skills, will need to shepherd the entire nation of Finland into the arms of Jesus, SQL guru, experience speaking to humans. Also job ad: comp range is $50K-$65K and you will need to feed the chickens out of your own pay. Generous health benefits including bandaids for purchase.
is the pay jump from jr. to ad or senior that drastic? Backstory. First generation college student, first in fam to have “an office job with benefits etc and pto.” Recently been seeing a lot of posts about creatives, why certain positions are more likely to get fired etc. what jumped out at me was the $$ people were giving for each position. I assumed jr’s are like 40-50k, ad 50-60k, senior 60-70k. These posts are saying it’s more like 40-50k, 60-70k and 80-90k. Is that real?
Ad agency designer desperately looking for an out but I have a possible new job opportunity. Here is my dilemma: Pros.... more money, no crazy client demands, pitches or decks or even prospective clients that will go nowhere (in-house), better benefits Cons.... this is a big one - it’s healthcare I’ve been at agencies with a range of clients for the past few years. Career suicide taking an in-house healthcare job? Especially if role focuses more on growth & performance over design?
What are the benefits of moving from agency life as an art director to in house as a designer? What are the cons? I’m really needing that work life balance for my mental health.
I’ve spoken to a few people who have dropped out ad school after putting together a decent portfolio and landing a job. Are there any benefits to staying in ad school for the full 2 years?
For anyone looking to relocate, LaneTerralever, an agency in Phoenix is looking to hire an AD and copywriter. Can be a team or solo. Solid creative team there. Unlimited PTO & pretty good benefits.
What hourly rate should I ask for for a contract AD position (no benefits) at a large tech company in SF? Input is highly appreciated, thank you!
My experiment of applying to art director jobs outside of New York is proving very successful I'm getting offers to interview for no less than 95k and ahmazing benefits plus relocation.
Anyone think it’s bullshit that Reservist/Guardsman don’t get to collect their pension until age 60? AND get paid less than the AD pension? At least one or the other come on.
Maternity leave at agencies. Discuss: http://www.adweek.com/brand-marketing/maternity-leave-at-ad-agencies-is-slowly-improving-but-not-all-moms-feel-the-love/
Going to be taking my remaining paternity leave here soon. How do I manage paternity leave and staying relevant in my practice so that the partners remember me when I get back? I’m a senior 3 (contd)
Would you jump ship for a 26% base increase, but the firm you’re going to has no 401k match or tuition assistance (current has 6% and 5k a year)
Are there benefits to being an analyst (non partner track and non client facing) at MBB? What are typical exist opportunities given the lack of exposure to strategy?
What are your personal financial milestones? Whether it be achieving a certain annual salary or maxing out your 401k contribution annually, storing X% of annual towards investments, owning X BTC, etc
Is there any sort of TSA Pre or Global Entry option for Indian immigrants in the US? Heard about SENTRI/FAST, but not sure what the benefits of those really include?
What are the cons to using investing apps like Stash. Not a finance guy, don’t have time to “watch” the market” and want to invest outside of my 401k and Roth. Second Q, Roth Vs traditional?
SM asking big 4 for 180$ base. Just got a boutique firm asking me to contract for a 18 months. Given I have to pay my own insurance, health, benefits etc., how should I calculate a good hourly rate.
I’m 24 and making 100K base. Thoughts on allocating traditional 401K vs Roth 401K? Already maxing Roth IRA.
Just like we all have airline and hotel loyalties, what is your ride share loyalty? Uber vs Lyft! I am not so concerned with quality, more so rewards program or benefits.
Ok be honest... what’s harder, being on maternity leave with a newborn or being an Associate during a crazy busy month at work? I know the real test comes when you return to work after leave, but what about before that?
If you loved your small independent broker dealer but they had just been acquired by a much larger corporation which does have benefits in terms, mostly, in technology, but you lose your “family” in the home office, what would you do and who would you look at if you were considering a change of your own?
How many of you stay in corporate apts vs hotels? Just signed a corporate apt lease in a modern luxury building with great amenities. Same airfare and meal policy. Benefits outweigh losing the points?
Got inquiry for an account executive role for a health insurance company. Not sure if I’m qualified but I’m curious to see if it’s a viable stretch role. Any advice/insight into how I can cont.
Do any of you use your personal airline credit card for booking business travel so you can earn miles? And then, of course, you submit the expense for reimbursement
Does maternity leave time count toward the two years you have to do post-MBA for tuition reimbursement?
Hi Ladies, I was impacted by the COVID-19 layoffs a few weeks ago and let go from my job at Deloitte. I have 2 years experience as an IT Auditor with the big 4 and I am in search of a new job. I’m currently residing in Atlanta Any recommendations on where to apply would be greatly appreciated.

I kept an open mind through the first few years of dog ownership, but i gotta say, if I see someone with a pit walk into the park I’m taking my dog out. 9/10 aggressive encounters I’ve had all pits 👎🏻

Need to vent 😔 Was introduced to this girl via family friends. Talked to her for 2 months, made plans to meet (diff cities). Things were going well. Today, she ended things: “we’re not a great match”
Accepted a position starting mid-April. Trying to decide when I should I put in my notice. Hmm...how nice should I be? 🤔
What exactly would an Audit Project Manager do? Recruiter found me on LinkedIn and I figure I’d do a face to face just for practice. I believe it’s monitoring processes in-house. But what else? Thanks
