is the pay jump from jr. to ad or senior that drastic? Backstory. First generation college student, first in fam to have “an office job with benefits etc and pto.” Recently been seeing a lot of posts about creatives, why certain positions are more likely to get fired etc. what jumped out at me was the $$ people were giving for each position. I assumed jr’s are like 40-50k, ad 50-60k, senior 60-70k. These posts are saying it’s more like 40-50k, 60-70k and 80-90k. Is that real?
Ad agency designer desperately looking for an out but I have a possible new job opportunity. Here is my dilemma: Pros.... more money, no crazy client demands, pitches or decks or even prospective clients that will go nowhere (in-house), better benefits Cons.... this is a big one - it’s healthcare I’ve been at agencies with a range of clients for the past few years. Career suicide taking an in-house healthcare job? Especially if role focuses more on growth & performance over design?
Job ad: requires 10 years of experience 5 of them as a C-level executive, must manage 30+ people and 9 subcontractors across 7 time zones, must have coded the actual moon landing and have sick DJing skills, will need to shepherd the entire nation of Finland into the arms of Jesus, SQL guru, experience speaking to humans. Also job ad: comp range is $50K-$65K and you will need to feed the chickens out of your own pay. Generous health benefits including bandaids for purchase.
What are the benefits of moving from agency life as an art director to in house as a designer? What are the cons? I’m really needing that work life balance for my mental health.
I’ve spoken to a few people who have dropped out ad school after putting together a decent portfolio and landing a job. Are there any benefits to staying in ad school for the full 2 years?
For anyone looking to relocate, LaneTerralever, an agency in Phoenix is looking to hire an AD and copywriter. Can be a team or solo. Solid creative team there. Unlimited PTO & pretty good benefits.
What hourly rate (full time) should I ask for for a contract AD position (no benefits) at a large tech company in SF? Input is highly appreciated, thank you!

Anyone think it’s bullshit that Reservist/Guardsman don’t get to collect their pension until age 60? AND get paid less than the AD pension? At least one or the other come on.
Hey y’all: currently weighing the benefits of obtaining an MBA. Started career with 2.5 years of corporate FP&A, then moved to Senior Consultant at a high growth Mgt Consulting firm (1.5 years in). I’ve seen roles back in industry require (interchangeably) MBA or 2-year management consulting experience. Are MBAs helpful/necessary for consultants...just to have one? Should it be more purpose-driven? Etc.
Just moved in-house & am hiring a designer - NO clue what salary to propose for this role. Full benefits, mid-level, Chicago-based, mostly designing internal materials (town halls, etc.). Help?

So, Trump is giving corporations a 20% tax break and is taking away the tax benefit of contributing to your 401k. So he effectively took our money and gave it to corporations. Take that middle class.

If we stayed on client site over the weekend and saved on airfare cost, are we allowed to charge Per diem and Uber rides?
I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept? 1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate 2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty
Planning to have a baby next year. Recommendations on insurance to choose to get the best value? Sorry if this is a basic question. New to US health insurance policies.
Any thoughts on shifting 401k contributions from traditional to Roth with the new tax code changes? I'd imagine a lot of us benefit from lower tax brackets in 2018.

I have five years big 4. Always did well bonus and promotion wise. In between I left for IT sales to make more money but being in Boston I would of had to move for better opportunities. Now I’m back in consulting and miss the freedom of sales. Anyone in my position? I felt this way before quarantine too. The SM on my project almost got divorced so she worked so much, then she said I realized it just my life. It’s just too unhealthy. Thoughts bowlers?
Omg yes! I was just talking to a coworker about this. The amount that we spend out of pocket is crazy - last year I spent 1500 just before the start of the year. We were stressing out so much about this. Any favorite site for basic classroom supplies, like tissue, etc.?
Hey guys- I have an intern buddy who was assigned to me and they’re just down the block from me. They want to meet up and I feel awful because they came to the city to intern and they don’t know anyone. It is not policy to meet up rn but if I was to just meet the person in a park for a coffee is that not a good move?
