If it's about an area on which you are an expert/experienced, ask a question about it that you know will stump him and watch him struggle to answer before you explain your own opinion on the subject.

Or, if that doesn't do the trick, send them a link to "Men Explain Things to Me" 😏

I think there is an epic one from FB or tbwa or McCann or one of these. Mentioned on here a few weeks ago. Fucking hilarious. Person goes from giving a fairly thorough negative assessment to doing a weekly "I need medicine!!!!!!" posting. Kinda great.

Interrupt and finish all his mansplaining sentences. What a dumbass. I hate that shit. I work with someone like that. I used to predict what he would mansplain and just start rambling about it without giving him a chance to chime in. He leaves me alone now.

You realize he doesn't know he's doing it, right Leo? Like, getting him to ignore you is not a great solution. He's as Michael victim of the past as you are.

Much*

Bhahahahahahaha
You're freaking people out on Fishbowl 😂

Thank him so so so much for enlightening you. Tell him how you never thought if it that way. Like really, so helpful. Ask him if he would look out for you and help you interpret other things that happen. You really don't know what you would have done without him. He will either a) realize he is an idiot or b) feel like a hero and have your back (in the most annoying way possible) forever. Some people you can't change because they have zero emotional intelligence...

We had a few very long posts on this topic. I hear you can search content on the iOS app version so try that too, if you have an iPhone

I had one (name rhymes with Marlos). I would just side eye him and pat him on the shoulder. Oh yes, thanks for that advice I learned from google 12 years ago you genius.

Respect him more.

Take your attention away from him...he gains is energy by siphoning it from you. Break the notion that it's polite to let someone dominate your attention. You don't have to smile and nod just because he's talking.

Interrupt him mid-sentence and say you have to run to another meeting. Do this each and every time, with consistency. This will train away the 'splaining

Actually, that doesn't train away the spraining. That trains him to think you're a bitch. Raining away the splaining is telling him his advice comes off as mansplaining.

I find myself questioning basic politeness I’ve learned since a child. Wondering what everyone else thinks. I work with an associate. She’s great. When she does good work or something I’ve asked her to do, I, of course, say “thank you!” I don’t really expect a response. She always replies “you’re welcome!” Or some variation. And for some reason, that’s awkward. Is it just me? I know in normal manners, that is the right response. Why does it sit funny?
