I guess it depends what you are going for. Gevril is an old Swiss brand with a lot of history. However, is it "luxury" I don't know. They are hugely marked down in generic retail stores. They use good components and products but I feel like you can use the same money, which usually isn't much I've seen them "marked down" from 4k to $499 at places like Nordstrom, and get a better watch. It's a generic watch.
Rising Star
I know of them for their Tribeca (Paul Newman Homage) which is a bit polarizing but surprisingly well respected among many watch enthusiasts since it's high quality and based on a discontinued/unobtainable design. Here's a good read about that watch in particular, but will give you more info on the brand https://timeandtidewatches.com/curious-case-gevril-tribeca-5-reasons-king-homage-watches/

I have no idea how these people sell watches. $3,295 for a knockoff of a watch that costs $4,725? Same design, but instead of a Titanium case, one of the coolest clasps anywhere, and a Tudor movement you get the same case, movement, and clasp you see in sub $1,000 micros.
If you like the Pelagos, but don’t want to spring for the real thing, get an NTH Nacken for $700.
If you want an homage, save yourself a couple grand and get a Steinhart or an NTH.
Oh man my first watch was a Steinhart. Served me very well. Got me used to the diver look and wearing a mechanical watch. Lost it somewhere in the sand during a trip to Bondi Beach. Good lesson learned for the more valuable watches id own down the road. Wish I still had it as a memento/first watch of my collection.
