I haven’t, but I would. My current salary is a bit more than I ever really expected to make, but I’m not thrilled with the work life balance, I also don’t really have any coworkers who I have anything in common with. They are nice people for the most part, but I miss having colleagues with similar interests so I could hang out with after work and on weekends. If I was offered a new role that would allow me to work from home more flexibly and had a more diverse group of colleagues, I think I would take the pay cut.
I did this. Left an extremely toxic work environment without a new job lined up, then found a new job in my field but a new industry with a 6.5% salary drop. So far so good at the new job, and the culture appears to be nontoxic. I think the peace of mind is worth the slight pay decrease, but I miss the “extra” cash flow. Making the best of the current situation by watching spending and being more frugal.
This is also why I would take a lower paying job.
