Career change
I am trying to get out of my current field and into a field that fits my training and interest. When I search for new positions using job boards that take into account my resume and work experience, they either come up with positions that do not match my skill set at all, things in the field I am trying to leave, or positions that pay less than what I am currently making. How do I refine my search to find better fits?

I read somewhere that saving relevant jobs even if you don’t intend to apply can help tune the feed 🤷‍♂️

Note: I have been searching for 6 years and working with a state job service for 2 years with no offers and only a handful of interviews.

A lot of job boards use AI and the AI has no idea what jobs are a good fit. They'll match keywords and add in trash if there aren't enough close matches to what you're looking for.

Yes! LinkedIn’s new ai-powered search is a brand new nightmare! I have to scroll endlessly through irrelevant jobs even though my filters are as tight as they can be.

Rebooting into a different career you cannot expect similar comp to what you are making as a tenured professional in your current role. Sometimes a true reboot requires some short term pain for long term gain. Don’t rush it. You are in a marathon not a sprint

I'm not looking for much in the way of compensation. I'm stuck in an entry-level position making less than the average income in the U.S. and much less than someone with a degree and/or the number of years of experience I have in the field that I am in. I am looking for a position that makes at least as much as I am making now in a field I have some training/skill in.

A wonderful friend recommended me to a recruiter, when the recruiter was looking to place a creative.
This role is at a small agency, I’m going to be paired with a Sr. Copywriter. They’re looking for a conceptual thinker and brilliant designer, no pressure.
I have some internships and some freelance under my belt since graduating portfolio school, and a current laptop that’s running on fumes ha.
I’m intimidated, cautious, yet super grateful to finally hear from someone.
Any words of wisdom?

This is my first job in a large corporate company, and I’m trying to gauge how long it normally takes to move from entry level to another internal position in the insurance industry. I have been applying internally for a year now and I am wondering if this is normal or if my company is just slow? I am a top performer, with great metrics, and I have some wonderful connections I’ve made who support me. I just can’t seem to move up. How long did it take you to move up? How many tries did it take?

I’ve been offered a reporting consultant job for less than 60k and I bring 9+ years of experience to the role. They should be offering more. I don’t want to settle but I don’t want to miss an opportunity to move. Reporting consultants should start at $65k per recruiting sites. Any advice? How can I get HR/recruiters to offer more? TIA

Had been working as a BA/PM role at a financial firm for 3.5 years and decided to leave corporate to join my family’s small business with the mentality I’d take things over. It’s been a little over a year and I’ve come to the realization that it’s not for me. Im looking to transition myself back to IT/Tech, but am feeling apprehensive in getting the attention of recruiters with the industry switch. Any advice from anyone that’s been in a similar situation?

Hi All,

I have 4 yrs of exp as full stack developer and my current CTC is 15 lpa and notice period is of 3 months. I got an offer from another firm for 24lpa but they have shared the offer letter of DOJ after 2 months and asked me to negotiate my notice period or look for buyout. What should I do in this case? Should I connect with my current hr to negotiate? Cause I tried convincing the new hr to share the offer letter of DOJ after 3 months but she is not in the favour of that.
