I’ve been offered a reporting consultant job for less than 60k and I bring 9+ years of experience to the role. They should be offering more. I don’t want to settle but I don’t want to miss an opportunity to move. Reporting consultants should start at $65k per recruiting sites. Any advice? How can I get HR/recruiters to offer more? TIA

I tried the counter asking for 65. They said they can’t offer any more and recommended I ask for an off cycle increase at a later date from my direct manager. I might just have to take a chance and dive in on this one.

If you really feel like the opportunity is worth it, I would take the risk and hope in a years time you can bump that up to something more managable. Otherwise I would move on, they're not willing to negotiate and you should be making more.

like

You’re literally talking the difference of $300 per month after taxes. If it’s a great opportunity and will make you happier, do it and take the off cycle conversation route.

Hi! If you can't negotiate, the only thing you can do is to ask for an increase. That's actually a good opportunity.

I’ve got about 20 years cross channel experience in marketing, split between big brands and startups, and I’m considering pivoting into a data science/data analyst role. I know it will initially be a step back in comp but is it at all realistic for a person with certificate level experience in data analysis but a decent marketing management background to expect $150-200k comp or is that mostly for degreed candidates (or not realistic at all)? Any guidance here is greatly appreciated.

Just wondering whether things will get better ever.
