I’m curious here as well - my original thoughts were an underwriting analyst would be on the higher level. However most I have seen have salary ranges much lower than an underwriting role.
Pro
I’ve seen people who are underwriters go on to become underwriting analysts. They tend to be involved in projects, QC underwriters’ work, confirm controls are working as intended, etc.
I’ve been struggling with job titles as well because I feel there is a lot of inconsistency in the market. For example, at NYL in UW role an “Analyst” is the lowest least experienced and “Senior Advisor” is highest most experienced (before moving to management track).
Would be nice to see a role progression from each major carrier!
For us, UW Analyst is more of administrative work then UW, UW II, Sr, Consultant, Sr. Consultant.
