Love the energy in the post! I’ve taken a reduction for a better work environment and it truly comes down to the question “Can I produce my best work here?”. If that’s a no, I’d consider moving.
This is what I am considering at the moment by going perm from contracting. I am making £110500 gross a year and perm I will look to push for at least 100k - 105k base.
At first I was on board with going perm however, recently I got a new manager and they're not as flexible as my last. This makes me concerned that I will be even more restricted going perm, regardless of the benefits like sick pay and unlimited paid leave and private health for me and immediate family.
Never took a pay decrease but I’m no longer actively looking for new roles because of the culture I am in now. If something came along paying more, it’d have to be a lot more for me to leave.
Just got promoted and am moving to part time so that comp is staying more or less flat but time off and working hours decreases to give more time outside and to travel. Excited to see it in action
have taken reduction but end up better off after cutting out the middleman high state income taxes and HCOL
when I was starting out, HCOL was worth it.
But these days Dems have really killed that concept and u gotta crunch the numbers.
