Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

I’m scared to go back to work - feel like I’ve been on fishbowl more than I’ve been on my slack msgs..

Am I right to be upset I got rejected after 3 job interviews and a work assignment? After the presentation I had with them they scheduled a video interview only to reject me live on zoom. Felt put on the spot, trying to remain friendly and professional when in fact I felt like crying.

I secretly despise my child’s teacher. Conferences to be held get canceled on snow days citing they’re closed. Except, how did they do their work from home? It was a scheduled zoom meeting. My child has some troubles and needs behavioral health interventions and I’m still working today despite my agency being closed. Such dedication from this teacher in ensuring they have their needs met. Isn’t the first time either.

Anyone else at that point of the year when they turn the sound off on zoom calls? 🙋🏻‍♀️

I like celebrating holidays but I really can’t stand mandatory holiday zoom meetings or virtual happy hours. Happy Holidays here is another meeting lol…. Anyone else?

Two weekends ago, I stupidly left my work phone in another part of the state. As required, I reported it as soon as I noticed it was missing. Luckily I only use my work phone to occasionally check my email while on the go and dial into zoom meetings, so nothing sensitive was compromised. My old phone was superhero blue. The replacement is Barbie pink. I guess that’s punishment enough, especially being a big 6’4 man 😂.

Tips on interviewing and navigating being sick? Some interviewers don't want to wait...but also look at you like you have two heads if you proceed with the zoom interview.

I'm wondering besides advil, fluids etc is there things I can do to give myself a boost during the interview itself/not sound sick? Then just go back to resting after lol

I truly feel like some people get upset if you don’t have exclamation points or emojis in Teams/Slack messages. I just don’t see how when I don’t do that, my messages can be perceived as mean? Some people need to get a grip lol

Hi all! Need some advice please. I've had 2 zoom interviews and the 3rd in-person next week. Salary has not come up. Should I ask before the 3rd interview? I don't want to waste their and my time if not in sync.

To hiring managers, why is networking such a big deal in this day and age? Do you find that candidates who do zoom chats with 3 employees and get referrals are much stronger than those who just submit applications?
(Note: I mean this sort of shallow networking as distinct from having worked closely with someone on the team. I understand why that referral carries weight)

What was interviewing like pre covid? A firm keeps pushing me to interview during my lunch break via zoom, but I don't have any wfh flexibility at my firm and my schedule the next 2 weeks is very hectic. I can only do it after the workday, but the firm won't budge. I can't do the morning as my firm requires us to get in at 8am. I guess I won't be interviewing then.

Question for everyone- I’m in the interviewing process with a company, I’ve done 3 interviews (30 min p/s, 1-hour zoom, and a 2.5-hour onsite interview). Now they want me to come work two (paid) half days before an offer is extended. Is this normal?

I had my second interview with an exec recruiting firm. They proposed my profile to their client for a role as Director of Quality and Product Development (this would be my jump from Manager to Director). The client wants to start conversations with me! My next interview will be a 1hr Zoom meeting with the COO and the HR Director of the company. I’ll have a 15mins prep call with the recruiter the day before, but any ideas of what to expect or tips to prepare are welcome. Thank you!

Why are senior leaders so proud to not be able to use Zoom? That’s such a weird flex. I certainly hope it’s just a self deprecating joke that they all make, and that in truth they are able to use the basic functions after almost 3 years of remote /hybrid, but it’s not funny.

I’d like to get to know these people better and grabbing lunch or a coffee is doable but I’m wondering what has worked for others in a remote world?

I have an intro call with an Accenture recruiter about a job I was referred to, next week, typical intro calls are 10-15 minutes and on a cell phone, but guess this is on Zoom for 30 mins. How should I dress (tie, button down, suit jacket) and what should I expect in the call?

I know this these are pretty basic question, but haven't interviewed in 2 yrs and this is my first remote interview sooo figured I'd ask the bowl.

Just started a new job and on the first zoom meeting my manager called me out and said “why do you look so serious?” Confused I just said I was focusing lol and then they said “you should smile more, it looks better on you”. Honestly felted weird after this encounter as I have never met this person before this meeting. Definitely made the vibe strange especially since there was 15+ in this zoom room lol

I interviewed with a Firm in New York over zoom which was with an associate and two partners. Now they are requesting a second interview. I am from Florida so the interview process is different from what I have experienced. Any thoughts?

At my company we are going fully remote and we are trying to determine what “remote working best practices” we can enable for our employees.

I’m coming to you all today to ask what has worked best for you that has allowed work to be more seamless?

For example we have toyed around with the idea of “no zoom meetings unless absolutely necessary. Otherwise all communication is to take place over email/Instant Message.
