Applied for a consulting manager job and l lowballed myself (PANICKED) when they asked my salary expectation during the interview (I said 130+ but I should have said 160-180). How can I fix it once I receive the offer? Can I say “after researching the market and hearing more about the position I wouldn’t make a switch for less than 170”? Or how else would you frame it? I don’t feel pressured to switch jobs just exploring the market. Thanks!!

Is the PwC DDV practice actually as bad as it sounds here, or are people just venting? Have a Sr Associate offer in DDV ($120k base) v/s an Analytics consulting manager at a F100 product firm in credit risk ($175k base). From a pure career development and exit opps perspective, what’s the 🐠’s perspective on the better choice? Is the Big4 consulting tag + exit opps >>> $60-70k pay with bonuses? Also, is getting into MBB unrealistic from either/both (have a deferred admit at a T10 school)?

New manager at a Big 4, but I’ve been a consulting manager for a while. An SC on the team said they “refuse” to report to me because I’m new. Our partner told me to get this SC in line and that I have his full support- but he apparently never told her I was coming to join the team to manage her😬. How do I set this SC straight without totally squashing her spirits? For context, she wants to take on more management role and be my “peer” but she’s a brand new SC...she’s not close to being ready.

Would you take high risk / high reward consulting gig at a small firm? Comp is hourly and project based. Firm has a good foothold in the niche market. Offers lots of flexibility. But no benefits and since it’s project and hourly based it’s feast or famine. Any advice for approaching a maternity leave conversation when my company has no policy, no HR dept and I have no contract?
