I sure do! My day off is not their day off. We need as many skills reinforced as we can l, especially when state testing is right around the corner. I ALWAYS leave a ton of work for students to do during class, and those who finish early get to start on their HOMEWORK PACKET due the next day. Those wanting to play will sit facing and being in front of the board, doing extra work since they had so much extra time. If it continues, call for an assistant administrator to come down and let the administrator deal with them through additional extra work! I always leave candy for those who work hard and do as they are told.
It's ok to infuse a little fun in throughout the day. I had an impromptu dance party at the end of the day as the kids were about to leave. They loved it. However the priority is to get the work done otherwise it will just pile up for the teacher.

I apologize for all the spelling errors in that post! Seriously..."herringbone"! Where the heck did that come from?!!!

Surprisingly, my 6th grades and 8th graders finished most of the stuff I assigned. Of course the ones who never work, stayed true to their patterns.😑🤨
