Did BCW NY just layoff it’s EA staff?! Seeing a bunch of these names on Connect and very upset that great people were let go!
i just had an excellent review with my supervisors. we are aligned i am ready to be promoted. i will be moving from project manager to senior project manager.
the catch; my company has laid off 75% of its staff, and cut our salaries by 25%.
timing is unclear, since we work in the live entertainment space. what is fair to ask for?
i have 7 years work force experience, am the only one in my position, touch every creative deliverable the agency makes, and updated and streamlined 10+ processes.
My firm failed to give raises last year. Firm fired some attorneys and replaced them. Fast forward, firm is interviewing people (this isnt public knowledge). Firm has hired someone but hasnt made any formal announcement. Firm is still interviewing another candidate. Firm doesnt have enough work for staff and attorneys currently; people are fighting for work. Should I be worried for my job? Also, is it wrong to be pissed that firm is hiring people when we are already fighting for work...
Extremely hypothetical question: from 0 to 10. What’s the possibility of a Big4 staff employee getting fired for having an OnlyFans account? That staff salary is not gonna pay for them bills........
Seeing all these “got laid off” posts and I’m honestly surprised. Which firms are laying people off? Thought every firm had staff shortages.
How badly do you have to screw up at a big 4 as a manager to be fired? I've heard of pips at staff/senior level. Would you get put on one at a manager level first or just get fired?
My coworker just got fired the day after 10/15. She was fired for “poor performance” but we believe she was actually fired for reporting a senior to HR for harassing another tax staff. Cont...
Why isn’t there a public accountants union? At least even at the staff level.
These layoffs were handled like a group of unchecked overlords are expected to.
How are the responsibilities of a senior consultant differ from that of a staff consultant at EY? For some context, I received an offer at EY at the senior consultant level, but I was a consultant at Deloitte (before getting laid off due to COVID). Any perspective from EY / Deloitte colleagues would be very helpful. Thanks!
Are people honest with their reviews for staff? My assistant only supports me and someone else so I feel like if I go off, it’ll be obvious it’s from me and I’ll have to face repercussions from her. It sounds ridiculous but as most of you know, apparently being incompetent as an assistant is not enough to get fired.
Public accounting firms that are hiring tax compliance staff/associates? Haven’t been laid off yet but the writing is on the wall
Left my consulting job after 2.25 years in October 2019 for a venture backed startup. Laid off in March 2020. Joined a VC fund as an intern shorty after, but our fundraise (for our fund) got pushed back.
I was approached about helping grow a small executive recruitment firm focused on private technology companies. I’ll be chief of staff. The company takes $150k/placement + equity. The co expects to hit $1m in rev this year. They also invest in startups.
Should I do it? Is this pigeonholing?
Looking for referrals from kind internet strangers for my husband whose 60 days starts today.
He is a principal software engineer with RSA which was a part of Dell until a week ago. Dell sold the company to a private equity firm that laid off 90% of all US staff.
YOE - 9+ development including 2+ as a technical manager
Roles - principal front end engineer or engineering manager
Requires H-1B transfer and open to relocation
Started working a week after graduating last May. Was on track to be one of the top staff performers and then COVID hit. Since working from home I am one of the lowest performers. Anxiety and stress are crippling my ability to succeed. I have social anxiety which makes wfh communication extremely difficult.
Managers - how much patience would you have with someone who was doing well pre-pandemic but has been struggling ever since? Should I start planning for a new job? (In case I get fired)
Is the hiring slowdown over? I contacted a few firms to inquire about lateral opportunities in late June/early July and was asked to check back in the fall due to hiring freezes. I wonder if I should reach back out or if it's too soon. The news about Skadden's staff layoffs this morning makes me think it's too soon.
Just found out a few senior managers are being laid off. We just hired a couple new seniors and staffs, how worried should I be as a staff?
Many firms that reduced salaries seem to be reversing that decision recently. But, is anyone slow and thinking layoffs may happen in the fall? Do you think staff who now are mostly sitting at home not working may be the first to go? Looks like we won’t all be back in the office until spring ..
If you believe The NY Times, PLEASE stop accepting low ball offers (staff and freelance) and agreeing to significant salary reductions going forward. Only those in the c-suite benefit, not any1 else https://www.nytimes.com/2020/07/29/business/economy/ceo-pay-pandemic-layoffs.html?action=click&module=News&pgtype=Homepage
Over the last few months I’ve seen a lot of staff/seniors quit and move to other jobs. Is this normal for this time? I feel like everyone I know is worried about not being laid off but here I see people dropping like flies. What’s going on? Side note if you are in audit and need a job contact me. 😂
I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.
I've been laid off from D. I'm seeking a similar role, "Resource Manager" or "Engagement Staffing Manager". To summarize, the role entails working with business managers to help fill open roles, providing available staff, and forecasts, etc.; and working with practitioners as they near or land on the bench. Do other consulting firms, such as EY, PWC, Accenture, etc. have such positions? If so, what are titles do they have? I'm seeking alternative search terms.
I need a supportive group hence coming here and not the company bowl. In my 10 years working , I have never found a place more people friendly , employee focused than EY. But today a peer told a staff as an immigrant She will have to more careful than someone who belong here on her actions cause actions may have negative consequences like she not able to be with family whereas he doesn’t. He also suggested that she needs to be careful as when layoffs happen that immigrant will be let go first.
I’ve heard Undergrad and Graduate placement into firms have been somewhat reduced due to covid. additionally some firms have laid off staff consultants. With this said, what are your guys thoughts on experienced hire recruiting for Summer 2020? Do you expect a highly competitive fall?
I’m feeling like a lay-off is imminent for me. What are the telltale signs from those who have laid off employees or those who had to fire staff?
Shared this in the main consulting bowl but sharing here as well. Cards Against Humanity had a Black employee committed to a psych ward against his will for speaking up about racism:
I feel like Deloitte is getting real slimey. Putting more than the typical number of staff on PIPs, to give themselves the opportunity to fire people for cause in a month or two without severance or anything.
With the backdrop of Deloitte bugling revenue for FY 2020, let’s have a moment of silence for the laid off Deloitte staff, who’s jobs could have been kept if Deloitte wasn’t the outsourcing leader.
Dallas tax layoffs - 9 in BTS (4 SM, 2 mgr, 3 staff). Int and SALT no layoffs yet but expecting EOW.
PwC Repeat of 08 Policy: No layoffs, no furloughs, bonuses are being paid, manager milestone being paid, raises for promoted staff are maintained. Go PwC!
Edelman lays off 5% of staff domestically. 50% of data and analytics team laid off in NY. Clearly decision makers understand the industry and what’s valuable (intuition > data)
How are staff selected for layoffs?
*POSTING THIS ON BEHALF OF A DEAR FRIEND*
A former coworker at Rogers & Cowan / PMK was laid off today along with a few other staff members. She’s a Public Relations Executive, with lots of music and entertainment experience. I know these are hard times, but if you know about an agency or brand in need of staff members or freelancers, please don’t hesitate to reach out 🙏🏻 Thanks!

Anyone been fired for majorly screwing up? Did they give you some time to find a new job or was it pretty immediate?
Is Accenture doing recession layoff now???
I’m scared of being fired at any moment. Maybe it’s because of what happened in 2020, but does anyone else feel the same?
Got a weird meeting request from creative manager and HR entitled “team rating mini master.” No clue what that means, but in a sea of recent layoffs/ 45 day notices, I’m expecting the worst. Thoughts?
Is anyone here constantly worried about getting laid off? I didn’t get moved to my next level (SA1 > SA2 > SA3 before manager) last review cycle (I was 6 months in the firm). Now I’m always constantly worried I’m going to get laid off. Overall get along w people at my level up to manager, but cannot get along with most partners and some directors. I’ve had good reviews from the former, and mixed reviews from the latter.
Wondering if this is anxiety or intuition.
. Hey ya’ll. Need advice. I was part of recent layoffs. I’ve been asked to return. Same pay and I will not be eligible for raises since the role is new. I’m also now an IC instead of a leader of leaders. My goal is to get to VP in the next two years. I’ve also had some great interviews and expect offers next week. I have until Tuesday to decide. How would you all go about making the decision?
Head of practice and someone from HR scheduled a call on the calendar? Its most likely a layoff?
I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...
Idk how to let go of this :/ Thoughts?
Do we lose negotiating power in looking for a new job if we got laid off?? In other words, will it be hard to acquire same level or higher salary?
I’m a Junior accountant, recent MBA grad in Finance, located in NYC, just got laid off due to a merger. Anybody hiring or know any opening positions?
If you give your project/manager 1-2 months notice that you’re leaving to go to school (as a courtesy) and the firm decides to cut the cord sooner and forces you out, do you get severance?
Will Forensics be negatively impacted (layoffs, hiring freeze) by the upcoming recession?
A Big 4 auditor asking as they looking to potentially jump ship internally after completing first senior year.
Did anyone volunteer for leave of absence (loa) or partially loa? Would that bite you in the ass when being laid off in terms of unemployment benefits?
Meeting with just HR tomorrow, likely to get fired. I thought there would be a partner involved but guess not? Performance issues.
Does anyone feel like those announcements that all summer interns will extended a full time offer to be a bit machiavellian? Especially in light of the “layoffs” to come
Has anyone been a contractor at Meta? Facebook (Meta) I have an opportunity to join as a contractor program manager. I am worried about leaving the stability of a full time job behind but also feel like it could be a great opportunity. Things I’m looking for clarity on: 1) what are the payment terms and are they honored (aka are you paid on time) 2) do they treat you well or like a “second class citizen” and 3) have any of you converted to full time after being promised?
Looking for referrals for a product owner / product manager consultant role. Open to both part and full time positions. Anyone looking for some additional help?
Anyone working in a venture capital firm willing to talk about the different roles one could look for and a probable path to landing a role?

I’m student teaching and I’m completely stressed out. I’ve been in an elementary classroom as a TA, but this is way different.
Is it possible to do a heloc on my current home to cover the down payment of a future home? We’d rather rent our current home than sell it.
