Do people tend to marry within their industry? I see the appeal: shared schedules, mutual understanding; but I also wonder if it can get too one-note. My partner’s in a totally different field, and sometimes that fresh perspective really helps. Curious what others think. Does being in the same industry help or hurt a relationship?

I married my best friend from high school. I don't like the industry more than the values, same goals, same perspective on life, and priorities. I think this speaks way louder than the industry. After these other things are aligned, then it could go either way, the same or a different industry.

That makes so much sense. I agree that shared values, life goals, and priorities matter so much more than whether you work in the same field. Being in the same industry might make some things easier, but it’s that deeper alignment that really builds a strong foundation for a marriage.

Well, considering we're now exes, I'd say it hurts the relationship when you're both very "type A" with strong personalities. It's probably more about that and less about having a job in the same industry TBH, but I won't be dating anyone else in finance, I can tell you that much.

Totally get that, sometimes it’s less about the industry and more about the dynamic between two strong personalities. Being in the same field can definitely amplify the intensity, especially if you’re both driven in similar ways. I can see why you’d want to steer clear of that combo going forward.

Never dated anyone in my industry. Think it’s always been interesting to talk about work and find the parallels. Even in completely different fields, there will be a lot of similarities.

That’s such a great point. Even when you’re in totally different industries, you can still connect over shared experiences like team dynamics, office politics, or navigating tough deadlines. Sometimes those outside perspectives actually help you see your own work in a new light too.

Current offer in hand is from a Captive & they have fixed ctc - what to do?

Hello Fishes,

I currently hold offers from below:
IBM - 15.5 LPA
CTS - 18.5 LPA
PWC India - 16 LPA
Oracle Financial Services Software(OFSS) - 21 LPA

Planning to join OFSS as I will work in product development team and can work in any shift timings with WFH.

Today I had my 2nd round interview with EY GDS and got rejected.
Do I need to worry about this and feel low?
Could EY GDS would have been better instead of OFSS?

Please provide your valuable inputs.

Truth. Find faith and joy in submission to the LORD. If you’re pursuing perfection in this world, you’re going to be let down. God does have bigger plans for you but they are through these problems. Joseph, Moses, Job, Paul, Peter and everyone else we read about, lived a life of struggle, as many do today. Instead of trying to wish away little issues from the eternal perspective, look up and be a blessing to someone else. Selfless love. Shining the light of Christ.
