I will say, you can leverage the mck brand only once, whatever’s left of it anyways. After being in your shoes and declining low ball offers, I eventually converted an amazing offer that 2x-ed my mck comp, after an year-long slog.
Know your worth, dont take a step back in your career. Many many many well wishers gave me advice on the contrary, to land any job and keep looking for better, but I was obstinate and kept looking. I very much regretted it when I was struggling, but I was almost ready to start my own venture.
Its like poker, know when to fold and when to go all-in.
DM me for more if you would like.
Thank you - this is fantastic advice!!
I’m someone who took the first offer she got and have been regretting the salary. Don’t be ashamed for what you want. As long as you can stick it out, aim for what you want because you only switch from the firm once. Yes, you can always switch again, but you’ll never as much focus on job hunting now.
Happy to chat more, feel free to DM
Yes but recruiters have short memories. They won’t see your ex McK 3 years ago. They’ll target you for certain roles if you’re at McK now.
Similar boat.
I turned down my first offer (dream company 2 years ago but not anymore; role was not ideal) and didn’t convert 2 other late stage interviews.
Have a few early stage leads (not even real interviews lined up for next week yet).
What was helpful:
- remind ourselves that we turn it down for a reason. It is like dating. Can’t find another partner doesn’t mean that the ex was right
- really believe in our worth, like REALLY
- seeing post like this (thank you) and talking to level-headed friends who supported your choice. This journey can be lonely
Also you overall from a opportunities pipeline perspective you are clearly doing amazing - You have already interviewed at 3 places and have several other opportunities and hopefully more to come.
There are many people who have been interviewing for months and are struggling to land any interviews.
So from that perspective you are doing great! Hang in there and best wishes.
This! Good for you and keep your head up. You're doing better than most. I left last summer and got so little traction. And I did end up starting my own thing bc I was so frustrated with the market
Life is long - wait for what you want.
why is this funny?
