Whenever you apply for jobs on Indeed or LinkedIn what you're looking for are jobs that have been posted for 2 weeks or less and < 100 people
Honestly, it's difficult to find job postings on LinkedIn that have <100 people apply to them. Even if 100+ people apply, there is no harm in submitting an application!
They’re not, I have a specialized nuance to what I do so my searches are very specific around a software I use for my job. I’ve seen the same few posts for months. They either hired someone or cancelled the search and forgot to take it down, aren’t really hiring and just trying to show growth or collect insights on the market like salary demands, or will only fill it with some unicorn candidate.
If you've never been an active hiring manager, you often don't understand how Indeed works. So, to help you understand. When employers work with Indeed, the way it works is.
The employer posts a job often on their own website, and Indeed will create a job listing on their website as well. Some employers, like when I was a hiring manager, will say don't leave listing's up more than 3 weeks because it gets less clicks. When I was doing this, it cost the company $100 a week for the listing to be up, and my DM would often say to close out unused listing's. With some companies, you will notice that the Indeed application is linked to their website and other companies it's not. Some HR departments use Indeed to gauge interest, and then they send you information to apply at their website, or they use Indeed as their whole application. Those employers who use it to gauge interest often are the ones who forget to tell Indeed they've found a candidate and to take down the listing. They usually no longer check old listing's anyways and don't respond to applicants.
There are also listing's that are not real, but that's something you can report to Indeed, and they will reach out to the employer and verify immediately.
People who just assume everything on Indeed is fake is doing themselves a disservice because that's not at all true. The way each company interacts with and signs up for Indeed is different, so the way they respond to you is different as well.
Indeed is useful, but it's a tool just like anything else it has it's flaws but everything being fake is not one of them as a whole, but in isolated instances, that can be very true. My advice would be to apply for jobs on Indeed and then go to the companies website and see if the job corresponds to the same thing. (In the event when this is possible with bigger company applications)
Granted, some HR departments are terrible with Indeed and just turn down every candidate and then end up reposting the position over and over again. This is an example of a company grifting federal government money for saying that they are hiring. They'll bring in a handful of employees for 30/60/90 days and then let me go for mysterious reasons to keep collecting government money for being a hiring employer.
This reply is longer than I realized 😳 😭
It is legit. I applied for a job on Jan 6 and finally got an offer. I start working next week. So don’t give up.
Linked in better
I have found several positions (successfully hired) using INDEED. I have had more success using Indeed to find placement rather than Monster.com and AppleOne Staffing Agencies. I would look several times a day and cast a wide net of interest out - even applying for positions where I was missing the desired Education Parameters. Don't sell yourself short! Experience can count for just as much as a degree!
