Do you call people via Skype/Teams as you would on your phone (no warning) or do you ping/chat first to ask if they are available to call?
How have you approached being on camera during the extended WFH routine? Some people are ALWAYS on camera while others just dial into calls that they would normally be on Teams/Zoom/Skype/WebEx for. I go on camera from time to time, but not for every single call. I’d be interested in learning everyone’s “guiding principles”.
Don't understand stand why some people always put Away or Offline as their status on Teams/Skype. Any reasons why if you're also doing this?
What are good questions to ask before starting a job? Culture is non-existent now with remote but I could ask about comms style maybe (ie skype/teams vs. Email)? Should I ask about typical hours or will that have me perceived as a lazy worker? What Qs will prep me best for a non-consulting environment?
Seeing more of a push to use MS Teams both at my client and firm with the intent of Skype being no more. What’s up with your company?
Since Skype for biz merged with Teams, I can no longer do conference calls with my clients’ email domain, nor share my desktop with them... anyone knows how to rectify this?
Found a website that keeps you available on Skype/Teams, Windows and VPN. Been using it during COVID-19 WFH and wanted to share with everyone. Www.lurkfromhome.com
How many calls have you had on Teams/Zoom/Skype/Webex etc? I'm wondering how many hours of my life were spent on "can everyone please go on mute" and "let's take it offline" 😬
So sorry if this has been asked but, are we allowed to use zoom/teams meetings/Skype for calls with friends outside the company?
Hey guys I just found a website that keeps you available on Skype/Teams, Windows, and VPN when you need to step away from your desk. Been using it a lot during COVID-19 WFH and wanted to share. www.lurkfromhome.com
What communication platform does your team use [Microsoft Teams, Slack, Skype]? What do you like and dislike about it?
One of my peers just set up a 3 hours fake meeting with me so her Skype shows she’s in meeting. That way she can avoid her other teams bugging her after she rolled off...
I am doing some research on the best communication tools (Slack, Skype, Teams, etc). What does your team use and how do you like it?
+1 if you still use your Verizon bridge because Skype for Business sucks (and Skype for Business has already been confirmed by MS that they're killing it off for MS Teams, smh)
I am thinking about starting a new project where I need to be on client site 3 days a week (vs where I mostly support remote now) while my oldest is starting 1st grade and my SO faces (cont)
Since WFH started, we’ve had meetings every morning for an hour for a “team update”. We have to go around and tell our managers what we are doing for the day. Are we the only one?😑 they seem so pointless
I requested standing desk(with a Doctor's note), but was declined by HR and Office services, told it does not fit with their Hoteling policy. Anybody else went through this and can share thoughts.
Anyone have any good recommendations for an in-home office chair. Not really looking to break the bank.
Quarantine emotional-outreach update: at the end of most zoom/teams/webex calls— when Ive been seeing peoples faces and smiling and having a nice enough time—I have to fight the urge to say “I miss you” or even “I love you” as Im signing off. (Not clients, just work people, but that’s bad enough)
I am so illiterate in this, so any help is appreciated. I am finally giving in and “building” a home office space in my apartment. Any recommendations for a monitor within $200? I don’t even know what to look for as its features haha🥺 In addition, I am planning to buy a Flexispot standing desk - any reviews, or better ones?
Is anyone’s company offering to pay portion of your rent as home office expense? Especially if company is no longer paying for commercial office space?
If I’m essentially on the bench and I’ve taken the training that’s been assigned to me is it OK to take on a side gig now? I have an opportunity to do some work from home for an IT project.
I really hope that tech companies after Covid remain mostly WFH. As a Bay Area native I would love for most of these techies to leave (not because I don’t like them but because I really want to one day own a house where I grew up and that’s almost impossible right now).
Shouldn’t we all work from home? Coronavirus hits NYC! I also don’t want to travel for production. What should we do??
Intensely fighting with husband and since my project is remote decided to pack my suitcase for a few weeks and split my time staying with friends in Miami / LA. Need some space. (Cont)
Entry level public sector consultant and very bored. Is it better to leave for commercial after the promotion or after one year? Any advice on making the switch to commercial would be appreciated.
I’ve seen a copywriter posting at periscope and would love to learn more. Anyone work on the creative side there and know about the role? Thanks
Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role. FAANG offer is slightly higher (though both are a 50+% bump on my current comp). Both would have me reset to entry level. Which one should I take?
Looking for a physical therapist for a running injury. Tried using Aetna's (KPMG insurance provider) internal search but it wasn't very helpful. Any suggestions on how to go about this?
Have an opportunity to pivot from traditional analytics role to an engineering role within same company. Would I be limiting my career growth by making pivot?
You’re young and unemployed. A friend set up a meeting with a big shot at a good agency, who’s not hiring. What’s your attitude and what what questions do you ask?
If you have been seeing a sr manager or partner flying first class on the same route and he seems to be from MBB, how can I introduce myself tactfully?
Why is it ok to have an aggressive competitive culture as a norm vs real team work? Sometimes I wonder if all the fights and hide and seeks are all worth it
Fellow Mumbaikars- Planning to buy an apartment in Mumbai as a backup to all the visa issues here.. any suggestions on best localities.. will mostly rent it out before we eventually move back..
Has anyone here worked for Salesforce as a consultant? How are the compensation and benefits compared to a consulting firm?
9 weeks straight of no travel / working from home... I barely even put on a T-shirt in the morning at this point
Asking for genuine advice on moving from consulting to PE or venture capital. What does it take ? Possible for Big 4 Strategy guy?
Option 1: Live in US, make 100k, wife unable to work due to visa restrictions, Option 2: Move to Canada, take a pay cut but now wife can work and combined income potentially more Which would you choose and why?
I have self quarantined because there is a decent chance I have a mild case of covid-19. I leave my room for the first time in 12 hours and my roommates have left the kitchen disgusting. I wanted cont
