What is the best way to continue to IM/Skype old coworkers once you leave a firm? I tried Skype and teams but seems the personal accounts don’t hook into business so they don’t get my messages. I realize we could text on phone but since we are computers all day, it’s nice to just IM as we did before. Any thoughts?
People who still ping you on Skype instead of Teams represent everything that’s wrong with society 😂 get with the times!

Team, What's your work from home setup for conference calls? 1. I have a Plantronics earpiece but both my clients and team have intermittently complained that I sound too far away. Not every call, but every 5th call. I suspect it might be due to my HP Elitebook. Any alternate setup without routing through my laptop directly? 2. I use Teams for almost all calls. For external calls, I switch to Skype. How do you all do it?
Holy Jesus is Teams barely functional for anyone else too? Is it just north America? God help us all if we have to use Skype again
How reasonable is it for a client or direct manager to expect you and your team to be available for unscheduled calls during business hours, and be unhappy if someone doesn't answer the phone (or skype/teams/etc) call?

Should I ask about typical hours or will that have me perceived as a lazy worker? What Qs will prep me best for a non-consulting environment?

Was reading an info article I received about "Reading Progress." I am copying the lead sentence from Monica Burn's June 21, 2021 article for you, but I really want to know if anyone is using this app. "Reading Progress is a new, free app built right into Microsoft Teams." It looks good to me on the surface for ALL teachers and is time efficient! Any thoughts?

How is everyone doing WFH? I’m already missing seeing my coworkers and it’s only day one
I recently started a new job and it in no way is panning out as it was made out to seem when I started and there are lots of red flags I’m just tolerating right now… for example, even pto and remote work is not as discussed from the onset. Is it too soon to start looking for something new? How does one go about explaining why you’d leave so soon to a potential new employer?
Hi folks! While we get through this quarantine, if anyone of you is interested in learning classical Carnatic music virtually(via Skype/similar) from a qualified and experienced music teacher, please-

Assuming we’re all working in the office, how important is it to work from your home office? Should I expect my team members, manager, coach to also be based out of the same office? Finally, if I wanted to occasionally work out of another office near me, is that allowed? Thanks!
Anyone who started during covid also feeling super vexed about never having been to the office? Had two jobs since pandemic started (law firm and now consulting) and been fully remote for both. Seems like firms want to keep people WFH to keep costs down, but I’m just getting sick of working in my room man. Not sure if this is a hot take
We have a fixed PTO time plan (very generous) but leftover rates by now are enormous. It’s gonna be about 160 hours of unused PTO per employee in the end of the year, and we only rollover 80. We thought about rolling over everything, but then accruals get too high. Does anyone have creative ideas how we can roll over excessive hours and don’t make them wages at the same time...

I am so conflicted about socializing during COVID. My friend invited me to a dinner with two new people (who work at the big 4) at an outdoor restaurant. Where I live, the COVID rate is ~3%. My friend invited the group chat and the two other girls shamed my friend for socializing in a small group during COVID. My friend group won’t agree to be in a pod and won’t meet unless everyone is 6 feet apart. It’s going to get cold soon and I feel like I’m going to be lonely if I don’t make new friends ☹️
