Has anyone here lived in both Dallas, TX and Raleigh, NC? How would you compare the two? What are some pros and cons of Raleigh? I (33, single, 1child) have been living in DFW for the last 5 years but want to get back closer to family in the southeast. On paper, Raleigh seems great for location, COL, and career… but I’ve gotten used to all the amenities that Dallas has to offer and am kind of worried we’ll be bored.

I've lived in Raleigh for the past 5 years after spending time in NY, DC, Boston area and Philly. Raleigh is by far my favorite city. Genuine people, great restaurants and cultural events. If you like music, we have Dreamville. There is a great fitness scene ranging from Pilates, strength training and cardio classes with great pricing. I've also heard the schools here are great. I've seen a number of kid friendly events and festivals. Real estate prices are going up, that's the only big downside.

I’m looking into relocating to charlotte for a change of scenery from Dallas. The COL is cheaper and it seems like black Mecca for black successful people.

Oh it’s tech in Raleigh! Nice to know. I’m in government contracts so I like to have my options open. I have family in NC (Fayetteville and Jacksonville) but honestly I’m not close to them. It’s so darn expensive here in Dallas, I want to be able to see my salary instead of putting over 2200 into an apartment to live decent.
