I will advice you to go for reserve instead of active that makes you having your civilian freedom. Talking from personal experience
No I was Infantry, they have similar training. But MP is better.
I have been in both, military police first, they are very far apart in many ways. While many your police skills will cross over, the duties will be vastly different. You may find yourself guarding something very boring, standing at a gate or even playing a little infantry.
I would suggest coast guard for the best LE experience. I would also suggest doing your homework via YouTube and Google. Recruiters are not your friend and will pork you if you let them.
Yes, served as a MP for 5 years before my civilian cop job. Very similar if you are doing patrols on base like I did at Ft. Carson and Frankfurt. The biggest difference was relearning the phonetic alphabet from Alpha, bravo, Charlie to Apple, boy, Charles. Etc
MP was a great choice for me
