Have you ever felt like the way we look influences how our competence or agreeability, is perceived, especially in job interviews? I read an article based on a study that suggests attractive individuals might have an advantage in being perceived as better candidates. For those of us who feel like we're on the less-favored side of this phenomenon, how do you think we can overcome these biases and ensure our skills and qualifications are the focus? It's really unfair.

I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if this research article is totally right. It's a sad reality, but just focus on showcasing your skills and qualifications clearly and confidently during job interviews. Wear attire that reflects professionalism and attention to detail, and be thoroughly prepared so you can articulate your qualifications effectively..

100% accurate. I make an effort to talk softer & always look out together (hair/makeup done) & dress conservative for this reason

Yes of course. Don’t you yourself have this perception?

This is so interesting... thanks for sharing

How is BNP Paribas as a company for a senior BA with yoe 6 years ? Heard a lot about good WLB , but also got to know that yearly hikes are not good enough. Are all this factor depends on your team which I will be joining ? Is it worth choosing BNP Paribas over Big4 like PwC and EY ?

Jr. Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm in Central Florida. Good credentials; top 10% at T14, law review. Sick of private practice bc of hours and pressure. Also, not enjoying the work that Central Florida offers, but want to live here.

I want to one day have my own firm. Trying to think outside the box on how to get the experience w/o being in big law for ten years.

Thinking of applying to be an ASA and to the FL AGO. Would like trial experience or civil rights/con law work.

Thoughts appreciated!

For any of you real estate investors, what tools or sources did you learn from when getting started. Can’t find a mentor currently so want to find some highly recommended books or videos. If focused on the tri-state area (NY, NJ, Long Island mainly) that would be even better. My hope is to buy and rent out a apartment while also owning a house and house hacking that by renting part of it out. Trying to understand all the steps, traps, and how to find if it’s a good investment.
