Have you ever said something in a meeting and no one reacts… then a guy says the exact same thing and suddenly it’s a great idea? It’s happened to me more than once, and it’s honestly so frustrating. It’s not even about credit — it just makes you feel invisible. I’ve started noticing it more when it happens to other women too. I’m trying to be more intentional about speaking up and giving credit where it’s due.

Yeah this actually happens to me a lot, but not just with men, and mostly other women, so I think it’s more of a personality/softer delivery issue than gender issue

Just that I tend to be more soft spoken/not as confident as some of my peers so when I suggest an idea it comes across not as strongly just specifically due to the delivery and not the idea itself.

Sometimes I have had to really be overconfident in something I’m saying just to get the point across. Not brushed off, but now I get the label of coming off brashly. Can be a hard line to walk. Almost like you have to pick. Not every place is like that though. Some really are good about giving everyone credit for both ideas big and small.

100%, I feel its either oh she's too confident or she's too shy, not really much of an in between. Absolutely, totally depends where you work, and having employees that will back you up is also amazing, but sadly quite rare to find!

This happens to my sister at our family gatherings all the time. I can see the frustration on her face and kind of feel bad, but we don’t have a super good relationship so I don’t do much. Kind of just try to ask her to repeat herself if she was talked over.

It's hard especially seeing it happen to someone else, not knowing if they want you to speak up for them or not. Some people are a bit put off if you try and 'protect' them! Others can be really appreciative of it.

Pretty sure the saga of the slave driven company has come to an end I’m the only HR person at this company. Friday I had full admin rights, and went to check email Saturday; account locked. Payroll/HRIS locked out. PEO service says no pending termination is on my file. Went to the office today to get my things just in case. Located in CA. Was about to report numerous violations too. All because I couldn’t solve 8 months of payroll issues in a day. 🫠 Good riddance, I’m getting a lawyer.

Which city would you recommend for single men in late 20s trying to find good opportunities in career & dating? Leaning more towards to NYC but not planning to live in Manhattan due to the high rent so I am not sure that would be okay. Also don't want to drive that much.
