I’m 3 weeks post partum with my first child and the best gift I’ve gotten from a friend is for her to come over and hold the baby for a few hours so I can sleep.
Agree with this. My sister came over well rested and did a "night shift" - she watched movies and stuff while taking care of the baby all night. It was great to get a full night's sleep.
Rising Star
A massage. I only ever give gifts for the mom, not the baby, unless it mom to be won’t otherwise be gifted or able to afford all of the baby stuff.
Massage, offer to babysit, gift for her (something she lives or is relaxing, like candles and a book). Just show you care.
Doordash or open-ended gift card to treat herself
Food. Either stuff to be eaten right away or stuff that can be put into the freezer and reheated.
I’ve been sending my new mommy friends self-care gifts. I feel like a lot of moms stop taking care of themselves once the kids come and my gifts are meant to remind them to take time for themselves and indulge once in a while. Fancy shower oils, candles, bath stuff, etc
I always thought the gift of a cleaning person for a day would be nice.
I plan on doing a locket
Basket of food from a place like Zingermans.
Pro
If she just had the baby, a gift basket full of snacks is fab. I remember Shari’s berries and Georgetown Cupcake arriving when I was tired, nursing, and starving, and it was absolute heaven.
Oh this is a great idea! I got a box of cookies from Levain bakery that was perfect
Second kid = give the gift of time! Haha. Gift cards for take out, bring over a meal, or take the older kid out for a few hours to do something fun. Or a spa gift certificate for a spa date you two can take together when she’s able?
Food, company, offer to take her first kid off her hands for a bit, cleaning and organizing help.
Babysitting.
