After the interview, interviewer( ex teammate) contacted me via WhatsApp and asked about my current and expected CTC. I shared my expectations, after which he mentioned that since the role was for a senior position, the package would not be an issue. Later, however, I was informed that I was not selected for the role. If the rejection was purely on technical ground what's the point of calling me.

Seems he doesn't want anyone else to earn that much money in his team.

I've recieved an offer from Morgan Stanley, my previous salary was around 6 Lpa and last offered was around 15 Lpa (WFH), I quoted 40 to 45% on top of that around 22 Lpa considering Mumbai location, WFO and Glassdoor pay range.
Did I just do a mistake by quoting too high a number? Please let me know your opinions.
