Hello! I am graduating in the fall of next year with my B.S. in Accounting. I was offered a staff accountant position to start immediately at a small firm in Central Florida. The salary is $52k per year with decent additional benefits. Is this a good entry level salary?

I feel like I don’t see the point in dropping a bunch of money into a 401k. I am pretty good at saving money and I want to enjoy my life now. What’s the point of being 67 and having loads of money?

There are some benefits to distance learning. Not having to deal with the knuckleheads is one. Discipline and classroom management takes so much effort. However I still miss not being able to see my students in the classroom. I feel empty. And I hate teaching into a screen.

Pros/cons/ first hand experience of planning a pregnancy during busy season versus planning one outside of busy season? It’s tempting to reap the benefits of being on maternity leave during busy season but nervous of the impact it may have on my career progression. Currently going into my S3 year and would be on track to be promoted to manager the following year (first Mgr busy season would be 2022). We are looking to start having kids in the next couple years. Had to work 2 projects that required me to work day, night, and multiple weekends because SM relied mostly on me and the rest of my team weren't capable of delivering quality work hence more weight shifted to my plate. Few sleepless nights have been hard and I always hope it doesn't hurt my baby. Thank God, my second trimester is easier as nausea's gone by then. Countdown to 5 more weeks when this project finally where I'll be 30 wks prego, it just reminds me how strong we all are. I'm also asking the same SM to approve my maternity leave in 2 weeks and he doesn't know I'm pregnant yet (I don't show much and don't disclose unless asked explicitly because I feel shame due to being a 2nd year analyst). He always thanks me in front of partners for my exemplary work, and I will just be so proud when he finds out I managed to do all that while pregnant 💜

Hello Everyone - Looking for advice from Deloitte practitioners! I am a specialist senior at Deloitte, got back from maternity leave in April 2020. I had my offering leader schedule a call with me to notify that I have been rated a low performer because I had 46% utilization and mediocre firm contribution scatterplot. My project scatterplots have been consistently good 5,5(top right) over the last 3 years. Do they not consider these things before rating someone as low? Feeling very low!

I spent the last 3 months "growing up" & now I'm ready to go. 1st thing is for me to get my own place. I'd like to buy instead of rent because I don't want to pay someone else's mortgage.

I'm thinking of selling my car & cash out some of my 401k to buy a house. My thought is to put down 3.5% for a FHA loan then make a big payment towards the principal to reduce long-term interest.

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.
