I learned that management doesn't care. They just want people in the building. And coworkers get mad because you are possibly getting them sick. Now I just stay home and recover.
I don't feel great about it, but I can't afford to miss work. No one cares. You're not given a pat on the back for showing up sniffling. Most of the time no one will even know you are sick unless you're coughing loudly enough to draw attention.
Technically, when you feel sick, you don’t supposed to go to work
Recently, I fell for the "indispensable" trap. I was told that if I didn't show up, our goals wouldn't be met. I was told that staying home would my team try and do I "trust my team."

Trust me, management does not care if you come to work sick. I believe they actually expect you to work even if you’re sick. If you are not physically unable to walk or in the hospital, they would expect you to come to work. They will NOT appreciate that you did, they will expect you to.
They don't care only cares if you don't show up because they might have to do something. But I did have good bosses at Belk
