On a side note, from an outsider’s perspective, tipping culture in the US is mind boggling in general... excellent service can come without tipping, look at 🇯🇵

I usually leave around $5 bucks.
I typically ask for a zero dollar room charge so that I can add the tip to my overall hotel bill. Makes it easier to tip because I don’t typically have cash.
I would leave a few bucks on the table ($3-5). Someone still has to clean up after you.
