Private ALL THE WAY, got told just try public once so I did and I had the worst time. It’s super slow and bureaucratic with a lot of close minded ppl that will never change and fight the entire process like they have a choice in it.
Yeah WLB is a lot better usually 9-4 but you’ll be stuck in roles longer so slower promotion path. Don’t know if you want to call travel to Ottawa weekly a perk lol

I’ve only worked on Public Sector projects. But I’m not a fan. The work isn’t interesting, there’s a lot of bureaucracy to deal with, and it’s slow (although I’d imagine it’s better WLB). Also, their offices aren’t as nice and they’re more stringent on expenses. Hard to find a public sector project that has budget for travel, let alone good per diems.
Speaking for myself I’ve enjoyed my private sector clients a lot more. I tend to feel like I get more personal interactions, and in the end add more value to the client.
Thanks! What things can you appreciate about the private sector from your time there?
