How is the work culture in Amgen ? I have read a lot of negative reviews and the only positive review is "free food" , is it really the case ? I have an offer from Amgen but a bit skeptical to join as I would prefer a better work culture , work life balance over huge pay.

Can someone elaborate, why us the work culture toxic?
I am at ZS working 12hrs almost everyday, chronically burnt out currently. While I don't expect working less than 8hrs a day everyday, all I expect is being able to watch TV with spouse at least 2 days among weekdays, once in a while going for dinner... which is impossible with ZS.

Is this too much to expect at Amgen?

You speak up for fairness, and the system punishes you for speaking. In my situation, I raised concerns about my manager’s behaviour and instead of neutral investigation HR collected my laptop, phone, and placed me on garden leave without properly addressing my complaint, it is retaliatory action rather than employee support. Raising genuine concerns led to retaliation instead of resolution. Leadership should build confidence, not break it. Unfortunately, employee dignity and ethics felt secondary to protecting hierarchy. A company’s true culture is revealed when employees speak up, and that is where Amgen India failed.

After a final interview, how many days after can I expect an answer from the recruiter?

At the end of the interview, the person told me I passed the interview and they were going to talk to the Director who’s a level under them. It’s a yes for them and they’re happy to work with me.

I also sent my references. I don’t know when I can expect an reply. Recruiters from that company aren’t really organised
