Copywriter here with 15 years behind me in house and agency. Been interviewing for 3 months now, all at lower paying opps and still haven't made it to a final round. I am deeply worried about my family's future 😰. Maybe I just pivot to a job in fast food but they're probably inundated with applications too.
Three weeks is not an inordinately long amount of time to be waiting to hear anything. It seems like things had been slow, and now with all the talk of an impending recession I wouldn't be surprised if agencies were just slow walking everything. With such a chaotic economy people will be hesitant to make moves.
18 months. It’s brutal. Especially with a family to help support. I’ve picked up freelance here and there but it’s nothing even remotely like it used to be 4+ years ago. Been driving Lyft and planning to go back to school for a new career (healthcare). Haven’t figured out what exactly yet though.
Hi there! Recent graduate with a MS in marketing - I’ve also thought about pivoting to become a rad tech and getting my AA at a nearby junior college. I’ve been on the hunt for several months for a FT role and have only managed to get a PT freelance role & PT role with the city office. It has definitely been brutal. At this point is there any way to stand out in the marketing industry or are we all the mercy of the current market?
Took me 5 months to find a new job. It’s rough out there, and had I not gotten this job I have no idea how long it would have taken to find another opportunity.
Good luck to everyone who’s looking right now. Keep your head up and please don’t beat yourself up about being unemployed.
Took me a year.
I've been on the job hunt for about 3 months, so you might have a while to go yet
I've been on the hunt for 4 months.
I’ve been on the hunt for several months. Had verbal offer given then rescinded due to parent company changes & then I’ve been “on hold” for another position…I was told I’m the top candidate but they are “sorting out client needs” at the moment. Clarity on what that could possible mean would be great.
From what I’ve seen and tried to study on LinkedIn it seems it’s easily taking people about 6 months to find a full-time position, (if not more).
A full year 😔
In this job market, it is taking people a year or two to land a new job. Not because they are not qualified or their resume needs to be rewritten or improved. But because the market is flooded with applicants. These people come from great companies and have solid experience, but that doesn’t matter in a job market where there are not enough jobs to go around and layoffs continuing across all industries.
