Genuine question: what do legal nurse consultants do? I have seen them at conferences but don’t have a good grasp of what I would use them for.

They help in assuring causation in cases. Chronological documentation, educating the attorney on all parts of healthcare and incidences that lead to medical malpractice, helping write questions for dispositions, finding experts for the case needed if going to trial, helping with the arbitration, talking with clients, and supporting the lawyer throughout the whole process as needed.
Some become expert witnesses but not me I want all my work to be between me the lawyer to help the client and lawyer

I'm a 6th year attorney in NYC. Strictly defense work; started out with the City Law Dept, did a year and a half of med mal/construction, and for past year and a half have been at a well known defense firm working on high exposure construction accident cases. Contemplating taking a couple interviews at plaintiff's firms to see if there is a good fit. Does anyone have any advice on how approach discussions about compensation and what a market level comp package would or should look like?

4th year at a mid size PI firm. Got pulled from litigating MVAs to help this solo we hired start a med Mal/nursing home practice. 1 year in and it looks like I’m two steps backwards in terms of getting paid because we’re a year or more out from a lot of the fees hitting. Hi everyone - I'm contemplating an offer from a large PI firm. I'm a little more than halfway through completing my 2nd year of practice, and I'm currently at a small firm with a low salary that's just no longer cutting it.

The offer from the large firm is for a pre-suit position, base salary of $100K - is this salary pretty standard for this kind of position?

Any insight is appreciated, thank you!!

Hello All,
I am finishing up my second year of practice as a lawyer. I transitioned to plaintiffs pi work from a boutique commercial litigation firm. I like the work and not having to bill. The issue I am having is managing volume. I have about 150 active files some pre-lit and the rest are in litigation. Cases range in value from very small to low six figures. I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

What’s a good LA or NY business litigation firm and salary to expect? I’m a 2yr with quite frankly a lot of experience across civ rights, PI, excessive force, wrongful death, employment defense, K dispute, corp. structure dispute, professional licensure. Write every kind of brief, appeals, argue motions, take depos. Am the only associate working directly under partner on all cases. In house or M&A/Real Estate Transactional are likely the end goal but want to get the litigation out of me first.
