Did you know that forced pregnancy is recognized under the Geneva Convention as a crime against humanity and a war crime? Perhaps our companies can openly take a side on the current abortion issue since it impacts many of us and our work lives. What do you think? Civil responses only please.

No one forced you to get pregnant tho??

like

I’m not pregnant

then call your elected representative and tell them to pass laws protecting the women who are forced to be pregnant, which by the way is .1% of all abortion cases in the US annually.

I think forced pregnancy means someone literally forced you to get pregnant in some manner, otherwise something like 90% of countries (don’t be fooled by Russia’s massiveness) would fall under that

No, wasn’t talking about sexual assault, I’m talking about things like forced marriage where the family puts massive pressure on them and expects them to get pregnant, or let’s say the government/or governing group like ISIS passes laws that they must get pregnant and have babies. It specially happened a lot where those doing it required more babies they can eventually use as slaves or soldiers

Over the last 50 or so years, the US hasn’t exactly done a stellar job of following the Geneva Convention.

There is almost nowhere to find reliable bonus information on Canadian firms. I’ve heard of year end bonuses ranging from 10-50% this year (not including Covid bonuses). Let’s start a thread posting year of call, rough billable hours worked and bonus as a percent of salary.

5 year call. 1850 hours. 10%.

Hey All,
I finished a third round interview, and HR contacted me that afternoon saying I had positive feedback across the board and they would contact me the next day regarding next steps. It’s been two days and they finally get back to me saying they haven’t been able to sync with the hiring manager but will keep me posted. Honestly I wish they would talk with the hiring manager and then let me know the decision instead of checking in. It’s messing with my emotions.

Anyone’s company still going through the hiring process up to Christmas? Was in the running for a role at a consultancy and had an interview scheduled for weeks. Suddenly got it cancelled with no explanation, when I reached out 2 days later the recruitment team gave little to no explanation besides ‘recruitment stopping for the year. Has left a v sour taste. I have other interviews lined up but this one was a favourite.

Never had this happened before, so just curious to know if this is normal?

Every time I speak to my director (at least twice a week), he works in how he is getting older into the conversation(humorously). For instance, he forgot something non-work related, said “sign of old age”. He recently told a story, said, this is how old people talk. He likes to come across as a grandfatherly figure, but I’m not sure what to say in these encounters. It is always an innocent, non work related context. Have you guys experienced this ? What is an appropriate response ?

Seems that the vaccine that usually takes more than 10 years to develop, test for side effects and go through the regulation process is being very fast tracked to roll out - which is a super great thing to potentially eradicate the virus. on the other side of the spectrum, people with life sciences n healthcare insights, how reliable and safe would you say vaccine (being fast tracked) is...?
