I have the exact opposite of this where the open office is actually super productive for me. I've heard this from other people who have ADHD, that distractions like music, tv, or crowded spaces like coffee shops can actually help quiet the mental noise and help you focus, and I've totally noticed this about myself even though I've never been diagnosed. Anyways, I'm one of those rare people that benefits from the open floor plan offices, sorry to everyone else!

See I also have ADHD so I know having constant background noise like music helps so much, but headphones aren’t allowed!
I've worked in big open plan offices and didn't mind it all that much. I think because I grew up in the city, always reading on the subway, I'm just not bothered by thinking with people around. I mean, I read most of Moby Dick on the F Train. The only time I really had a hassle with an office plan was at one job where my desk happened to be at sort of a crossroads in the office. People coming and going would want to stop and chat and I was constantly having to remind people that I actually had work to do.

Yess, having to constantly remind people that you need to work can be a bit frustrating. Trying to do it in a polite way too is hard sometimes

100%! I am such a bad influence in the office because I love to socialize and often prevent others from doing their work. Having an open plan just further exacerbates the issue. WFH is the best thing that ever happened to my productivity

Exactly!! Me too! Especially because a lot of us WFH so when we do all come in the office for meetings it’s so nice to catch up and chat, but I don’t help myself with getting work done
Try loopy ear plugs! They are very discreet and you can still hear if someone comes up to your desk to speak with you but overall helps lower the volume and concentrate! I have two pairs of varying levels of noise cancelling.

We aren’t allowed anything like those annoyingly ! Otherwise I absolutely would
