Hi,

Can someone please let me know how is the annual appraisal and growth in SLC?

I have gone through lot of posts in Glassdoor where existing employees are not happy with increments and slow growth.

If you know of any solid criminal defense attorneys in Utah (preferably SLC but Utah County would work well too), can you DM me? This would be for someone with a charged misdemeanor. No real fee sensitivity, just looking for someone who is really good.

Left K&E NY litigation group about a year ago because I had to head back to the west coast to take care of an ailing family member. At that time, the firm was pushing RTO, so I left rather than trying to work remote. Now that my family member is on the mend and other family has moved back to care for them, I want to head to K&E’s SLC office. I had a great review the one full year I was there and good relationships with some influential partners. Anyone have experience going back to a firm..

Hey all! I’m working on planning a meet up for our sales team (we’re a fully remote company). What are your top city recommendations in the US for a team of about 12 people?
We already have Miami and Boston on the list, now just trying to find a 3rd option.

We have folks on the east coast of Canada, Florida, SLC, OKC, Etc. We’re trying to avoid west coast destinations.

Would also love your recommendations for meetup activities!

🐠 that have done both parks - Is it worth doing Grand tetons for 2 days and then Glacier NP for 4 days or just explore MT/GNP for all 6 days? I know the drive is long but want to make sure we don’t miss out on Grand tetons. Options are to fly into SLC or Jackson, WY depending on which parks we decide. Skipping Yellowstone for obvious reasons.

Should we change our trip to someplace else /Utah?

SLC folks: I lived there for a few months during the pandemic and fell in love. Was thinking of maybe trying to buy a condo and renting it out for a few years before moving over. Any places were I get a 1 bd / 1 br with a ~$100 - $150K downpayment? Probably not realistic in Sugar House, Avenues, etc. but curious if there's anything in a decent neighborhood.

My girlfriend and I have been together for about a year. I'm in Chicago and she is in SLC. She grew up on the west coast but has come to realize that she has no interest in being there. That works for me because I'm not a fan either and would ultimately like to return to DC. Her parents think that I had something to do with it because I'm outspoken.

We recently decided to postpone moving in together because of some issues. My relationship with her family is pretty damaged. How can I repair it?

There are a lot of good reasons to work at the very top firms in New York City. Money is not one of them. You can have a good WLB in a secondary city and make Cravath pay now. The pro move out of law school is to go live large in Austin, Miami, Denver, etc. working for one of the many national firms paying Cravath bucks in all markets. Senior associates making mid-500s in SLC are killing the game right now

Hi all, I accepted a position at my current company that I've been at for four years as a PM starting at 95k flat. I'm located SLC so I feel like the salary is quite low. I think I will need to leave my current company to be paid fairly. Does anyone have advice on how to move externally when you've been at the same company for so long? Are there any mentors out there who could help connect me with the tech scene?

Pros:

- fairly decent place to work (from someone who worked with the Vancouver and San Jose offices). never met a blue badger (permanent employee) who had awful things to say.

- Ashley Goodall (their SVP, Methods & Intelligence) co-authored a brilliant book on leadership and people management called “Nine Lies About Work” that makes me believe they can be an awesome place to work

Cons:

- red badgers had low morale since they’re contract workers and can be terminated at any time

Out of curiosity, is consulting, esp MBB consulting not as coveted as they were several years ago? I keep seeing advanced technical (data science) skills required for many industry positions, even if the role is strategic. The traditional strategy/biz ops roles seem to become more and more selective, are typical exit paths from mbb consulting becoming more of a “red sea” situation?
