Social media changed what traditional broadcasters have relied upon, with “controlling the message”.
You’ll have to get used to this, as younger audiences see social media like TikTok and X as their news sources, they see traditional/legacy broadcasters as “outdated”.
And crucially, as older audiences die off, younger audiences are not necessarily going to grow into audiences for legacy broadcasters if they continue to hold the view that audiences should listen, not think or challenge.
True, but there's a difference between challenging and straight-up misinforming. If someone slaps fake captions on our work, it's not debate-it's distortion. Audiences deserve context, not TikTok telephone
It’s very hard to control. It’s also a fine line between being seen as ensuring accuracy and not allowing the message to be presented differently (or just blatantly wrong in some cases). We are entering a completely different landscape with how news is delivered, and I’m not entirely sure what it will look like even now.
That must feel so frustrating. You put so much effort into getting things right, and then see it taken out of context. It really shows how important proper media literacy is becoming.
