I have a 3rd and final interview for a part time job soon. I was actually really excited for this job but I was just diagnosed with cancer . I read somewhere that I should wait for the job offer but then I feel like its lying and not starting off on the right foot with the employer. I am probably going to need surgery and time off for chemo. Would you wait to tell them with the job offer or would you just pull out of the running?

Probably not the most strictly ethical answer but I’d take the job. Not sure what your financial situation is but if you need those benefits to save your life, I’d say do it. Not sure what the legal implications would be if they figured out you were diagnosed before taking the job/health insurance (if any). On a separate note, don’t know you but very sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Hope your treatment goes well.

First, I'm really sorry about your diagnosis. For me, I would just take the job and let them know after. Legally they are not allowed to withhold an offer because of a medical condition, I'm pretty sure, but you know how things are. They might be thinking about their healthcare costs and FMLA inconveniences. I would personally take the job and let them know after a couple of weeks. But you have to do whatever sits right with you.

My base loc is Bengaluru, but currently I am not mandatorily required to work from office, and have been working from home since I joined Deloitte in July. Should I talk to my manager and go back to my hometown Kolkata and work from there? Staying in PG all day and working from here is not quite feasible for me. Suggest pls. Deloitte India
