I have arrived in Canada late 2023 after a career in corporate banking in the Middle East and Africa. I have been looking for a first professional canadian experience since. I have revised downwards my job and salary expectations, I have toned down my résumé (but without removing any experience) and have been networking for the past 3 months.
Most feedback I am getting: over qualified for entry level positions and no canadian experience to tackle higher position. Any advice?

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?

There’s a practice group that I’ve been trying to find work in but whenever I volunteer to help, I always get roped in to do non billable work. In the beginning it was fine but now I’m feeling it’s never going to amount to actual work. Any tips to get more involved without all the non billables and how to approach this gently?
