I just recently got engaged! We are getting a prenup and trying to find our prenup lawyers. I have a workplace benefit which I used for my estate plan and although they made some errors that didn’t inspire confidence with attention to detail, it seemed fine because I was/am administratively single and at least now I have a will and trust etc. I have started trying to find an attorney through the workplace plan but am also willing to pay out of pocket. Did anyone use ARAG? I have $1m+ NW.

Family law attorney here. First, congrats on your engagement! Second, although I haven’t worked with ARAG before, I would strongly recommend hiring an attorney who regularly practices in your jurisdiction to do your prenup rather than using them. My experience with those kinds of discount legal groups is not positive and the quality of attorney you will get through the free benefit is not going to be very high. With your net worth, you will want to ensure that your prenup is actually drafted correctly according to the laws of your jurisdiction, and IMO it’s worth the extra cost to ensure it is done correctly. I work for a firm that specializes in high net worth divorce and I can’t tell you how frequently clients who went for the cheap option on the prenup get screwed in divorce and/or end up in prolonged litigation over the validity of the prenups because of substantive issues with the prenups that they signed.

Fellow family lawyer here - I second AA1. Prenups are something can can really easily be messed up, it’s important to have someone experienced handling it, and worth the extra cost.
