You are not crazy at all. Humans are social and offices provide natural interaction that remote work sometimes removes. Wanting that connection again is completely valid.
Rising Star
I understand you, sometimes it’s needing that human interaction and a proper adult conversation about anything and not purely a work call convo. That’s not silly at all and your feelings are valid - do whatever makes your heart happy!
It was a weird transition for me to be a remote worker. Then it was just as weird coming back to the office. Nothing you can’t get used to again, just keep in mind you’ll have to give it some time. I enjoyed my WFH time, and now appreciate the clear divide of home and work after getting back in the office.
Remote work brings flexibility, but it can also feel isolating after a while. Being on calls all day isn’t quite the same as the connections that happen when people are together in person.
I also think different seasons of life change what we need. For me, remote work works well right now because I have young kids and the flexibility helps a lot. But it makes sense that others might crave more in-person interaction.
You need to do what is right for you. Remote working can be isolating and lonely and if you are missing the social element, try and find yourself a new job.
I am sure that most employers would be happy to see that you are looking for a job that requires you to be in the office. I would suggest that if you have the option, try and look for in-office roles, as well as hybrid office roles. That way, you can working in the office for 2-3 days a week, and work the other days from home.
This will bring you the social element, as well as the time to focus when working from home.
