I recently decided I wanted to leave the law and took a sabbatical after giving notice at my firm. About 2 months in, an in-house recruiter reached out with an offer I felt like was too good to pass up (even though I intended to take more time off and truly transition out of law). Basically, I only plan to stay maybe a year because at that point I’ll have enough to not work for a while and truly transition out. But I’m feeling guilty about it for some reason 🙃

Never know what the future holds! You might like it enough to stay on part time or work out some other arrangement.

Valid point!

Keep an open mind! Maybe you’ll love it. And if you’re open to that possibility, there’s zero need for guilt.

take the opportunity guilt free and do what’s best for you without a second thought. congrats!

Tell us why this was too hard to pass up!

It’s a contract position for $130/hour (not billed but just per hour I’m at the office).

Are you feeling guilty about leaving the firm? They will LOVE to hear you're in house rather than just not practicing. Firms love a potential referral source.

I have been trying to escape consulting for over 2 years now, but havent been able go convert the right role for me. Ive had a plethora of interviews lately. I hope that I can land something soon. My big 4 experience has been so depressing, that whenever I land an offer letter, I will most likely break down crying. I consistently dream of that day. I feel like i have been in a corporate prison. Can anybody relate?

I had a phone screening with a recruiter (who is a TD Industries employee- not outside recruiter) I asked specifically when they were looking to hire on, he said a month give or take a few weeks. That was on September 9th. I sent a thank you followup email the next day with letters of recommendation like I had mentioned in our conversation. I sent a second follow up email asking if they had made any decisions on who will be asked for inperson interviews, he said....check comments plz 🙏
