I’m currently interviewing for a hybrid Jr UX Designer role for a fragrance company. The compensation is between 70-80k. I searched the market rate in NYC and the salaries are between 103-120k. I assume this is based on the company, industry, and experience. I have a graphic design background with 10 years experience and have a springboard certification for UX. I don’t want to get low balled as I have been in the past. Is it unreasonable to ask for what’s market value when it’s a team of 5?

I wonder how people prepare for their portfolio while your work is owned by your current company. Do you recreate some of those work and explain in your case study?

And, how much of salary do you need in NYC as still a junior level UX/UI designer?
YOE in UX/UI field: 2 years and 3 years of some other design experiences.

Nearing the end of the interview process for a mid level Product Designer role but experience wise I’d be considered more junior. What do I ask for in terms salary? (Sorry if it’s a stupid question)

I’ve gone through whiteboarding and a design challenge so skill wise I think I’ve proven to them I am capable.

They gave me a range for the role so would I just go with that? It’s higher than average in the market and one I’d be happy with but I feel weird since I’m not actually mid level.

I'm was promoted recently to client manager at a consulting engineering firm. My background is 16 YOE working as a Senior Plumbing Designer. I didn't get a compensation increase when promoted; however, after 7 months of great work in my new role I would like to negotiate a compensation adjustment.  My expectations are 120 - 130k a year base salary with 20% bonus. Does this sound reasonable for the MEP consulting engineering industry or should I try to negotiate a different figure?

Freelance question here! What’s a reasonable hourly rate to charge for some branding/UI work? For context, this is for a mobile app startup; UX is largely in place but they need help branding it and taking the visuals to the next level. I was offered $108k for a designer role at chiat\day LA. Is that good? Should I have asked for more given today’s market? I’m looking for reasons to give up my freelancing lifestyle and was hoping for a title bump, which I didn’t get. I’m super unfamiliar w the advertising market and used to be a product designer. Took a pay cut to do more creative work, but if I can get back the salary I had, I would.

I have applied to Amazon as a visual designer. My recruiter is asking me about my expected salary. I have a experience of 4+ years and the job profile was for 5+ years. How much should I quote?

I work at a small agency. I asked for a raise and was told you can get one in a few months if you do X,Y,Z but also keep in mind you make (on the low end of) what your position should make.

My question is—I wear many hats within my agency because we’re small and growing—So while I may be an art director, when needed I’m also a PA, or a production designer etc... SO shouldn’t my salary reflect that??
