Absolutely. I have colleagues who "work" their 40 hours, but never get much done and spend that time chatting and wasting time. When I'm at work, I'm working. When my colleagues complain about having to take work home, it takes everything I have to not remind them that they spent probably two full days just sitting around and talking instead of doing their job each week.

Do your peers stay late or come in early?… if your going to set boundaries, that’s fine… but don’t be surprised when your career and comp now have boundaries…

So you’re not exceeding expectations… it’s possible that with a slight adjustment to WLB, OP could be exceeding expectations…
Raises are based on performance among your peer group… it’s hard to justify an above average raise, when you’re simply doing enough work to keep your job… not excelling enough to warrant extra pay or promotions…

It not just a matter of time spent, it's the quality of work you do in the time. And if you want to make more and move up in the ranks, it's good to step up and take on some challenging projects. If you start demonstrating some leadership qualities like that you may move the needle.
