I also often refer to my calendar. It's just a good strategic move. If you let people get the idea that you don't have enough to do, oh boy, they'll find ways to change that. Always lean toward making your time seem precious, it will save you a lot of trouble.
Pro
Exactly! I feel like pretending to be busy just keeps people from overloading me. Makes your time feel a little more… untouchable.
My calendar isn’t always meetings. Sometimes it’s just time blocks for work. Better to pause and not just blindly agree to everything.
Pro
Totally! Time-blocking for actual work is underrated, makes you look busy without just filling your calendar with meetings.

What makes you think you aren't important? And there are probably some people who think you're VERY important to them. Why are they not as worthy of your time as busy work is?
We all have 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year, and if we're very VERY lucky, 80-100 years, about 40 of them that are classically "productive"
Guard your time, guard your time with your very life. YOU are the only one who gets to decide what's important. And I bet your calendar is MUCH more full than you realise.
When you are on your death bed, a lazy Tuesday in early winter in the first half of the 21st century may very well be what you realise is truly important.
Pro
Wow, I needed to hear this. Makes me realize I’ve been overvaluing ‘busy’ instead of what actually matters. Definitely going to start being more intentional with my time.
Pro
I for sure do this when I need time for rest in order for me to mentally prepare myself for whatever I am doing. It’s okay to not be available all the time especially if you are not in the mood to show up. A break is always needed and should be prioritized.
Pro
Totally! Sometimes “busy” is just a nice way to give yourself some space without feeling guilty. Everyone needs that mental prep time.
