I went through a similar situation - horrible gut feeling on week 2. I tried to stick it out but so many red flags so right before my 3 month I quit with nothing else lined up which I know is not ideal but it was affecting me so negatively I had to put myself first. I felt a huge weight lifted - now on to focusing on me and finding a MUCH better fit! Everyone told me to try to do the bare minimum and stick it out until I found something else but it just wasn’t working for me. I wish you all the best as you navigate this. I feel like a new job should be easy not hard and miserable when you start but I guess I was just fortunate at every other job lol.
I am a pretty positive person and even if there are things I’m not crazy about in a new job, I usually can focus on the good. I started a new role a few years ago and was just miserable, I couldn’t put my finger on what exactly was making me feel that way but I would wake up every morning and the thought of going into that office just made me want to cry and m stay in bed. After two weeks of that I realized it was my gut telling me that this was not a job for me. I quit and never regretted it.

It’s not gonna get better. Trust your gut. That happened to me twice. Both times I quit. Once you’ve worked in a toxic environment. You can see it quickly. This is after I spent years with a toxic boss before pivoting to the client side. Most agencies are toxic tbh. From the workload to the client’s unreasonable expectations. Or teams saying yes and not caring about others workloads.
Did you take my old job?
I had a similar situation less than one month in at a different place than where I am now. Trust your gut and start looking. If anyone asks about why you are looking (I actually didn’t get many that did), you can tell them that the role was wildly different from what they communicated in the interviews…which, let’s face it, is probably true.
If you do think there’s a way to salvage where you are, it might be worth a try but it would require some candid conversations. Without knowing your why, I can’t dive deeper except to suggest that.
But seriously, trust your intuition. If it’s not right…start looking.
I left the job I mentioned above after about 9 months (mostly because I didn’t want to jump just to get out but jump smarter) and I don’t regret it at all.
It’s always best to have another job before leaving your current. Sometimes you have to put your mental health first and make a hard decision. If you can deal with it while you look for something else, great. If not, get out and start networking now.
