I make only a tiny bit above minimum wage. I was surviving 5 years ago. I wasn't comfortable or putting a lot into savings, but I was getting by. My lifestyle has not changed and yet, now I choose between rent and groceries every month. I no longer see friends because I can't afford to. It's awful.

Thats right and it is a story of many these days. I used to buy things and survive easily with a little savings at the end of the month but not anymore. The inflation has gone crazy and I hope my paycheck will catch up someday.
It's all of that. I'm making more now than I ever have (not that it's much) and feel just as stressed, if not more, than I did when I first started working. The biggest factor has to be inflation. My first apartment was $400/month. Now that same apartment is $1,000. It's hard to save any money when the price of everything keeps skyrocketing...

Thats right. Since you talked about rent, I used to pay $800 including utilities and car parking space but the same apartment is costing me far more and paycheck feels smaller now even though it is more than before.
At least those posting here have seen increases in their pay instead of still earning minimum wage. People that earn very little know what and how to enjoy the most simplest things that money can't buy.
And if they don't are hopefully able to at least try.

That is my goal these days, to try to find fun and enjoy in things that don't cost money. There is a lot I want to do but can't because of the small paycheck.
First of all, I want to know where you are where minimum wage is $14-15 an hour. There are places where it's still $7.25.
And a lot of it is inflation. The bad news is, prices aren't going to go down, at least not enough to make a difference (deflation would be worse for the overall economy than anything) All we can do is keep working towards making more, and try to stay ahead of inflation.

I started at Walmart first in Canada when I came here as a student and they used to pay around $14/hr if I am not wrong. But I forgot to mention I had more than 1 job to survive and now I have only one full time job and it seems harder than before to survive.

I feel like since the economy is gotten worse due to inflation.. we are not having enough money in our pockets. I use to think how do I survive living off my paychecks but now it’s the same thing. It’s very weird.
